When we found – GWU

Following the launch of Vision Malta 2050, the General Workers’ Union has welcomed this launch with optimism as it agrees and believes that this is an important step for Malta.

It believes that we must work together to strive for a society in the future that is better than the one we have found so that further progress is made over the years. With this Malta 2050 vision, we will have a plan on how we will achieve this goal through 90 targets in different areas, comprising more than 1,800 actions. A plan that will be implemented in a transparent and accountable manner through clear milestones and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

“The GWU is very proud of the fact that it first proposed a holistic vision and strategic plan for Malta back in 2008. The proposals it has put forward in various budgets over the years have also been driven by the idea that through the necessary transformation with milestones, together we will achieve a quality of life that is among the best in Europe and beyond,” said the GWU.

As a social partner, the GWU actively participated in the consultation process with the
central idea that the country has a holistic vision and strategic plan for a better quality of life, quality work and excellent working conditions that lead to social mobility for all. It is ready to participate in the implementation.

“We are convinced that this vision should lead to the next leap in our quality of life. People’s priorities change over time and with a holistic plan we can face and anticipate certain problems and challenges and work together for a better future for us and our children,” emphasised the GWU.
