The GWU at a meeting with the deputy prime minister

The General Workers’ Union met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health Chris Fearne yesterday to discuss a number of issues of particular interest to health care workers.

Both sides talked about the importance of social dialogue and even collective bargaining when it comes to collective agreements. Reference was also made to the pandemic and how Malta has managed the impact on the labour market with financial incentives that kept workers on the job.

Representatives of the Confederazione Generale Italiana del Lavoro (CGIL) and the CGIL-GWU contact point were present at the meeting. Also present on behalf of GWU were President Victor Carachi, Deputy General Secretary Kevin Camilleri and Secretaries Kendrick Bondin, Theo Vella, Jesmond Marshall and Kenny Muscat.
