New agreement for fire service employees in Mater Dei and St Vincent de Paul

The Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Active Ageing, together with the General
Workers Union (GWU), have signed a new agreement for public sector employees
working in the fire brigade at Mater Hospital Dei and the St Vincent de Paul
residential home.

Among other things, the signed agreement provides for more training opportunities
for these employees to help them advance in their careers faster, as well as an
increase in allowances.

The agreement was signed by Joseph Chetcuti, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry
of Health, Christine Schembri, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Active Ageing,
Kendrick Bondin and Laurence Bugeja on behalf of the GWU.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health Chris Fearne and Minister for Active
Ageing Jo Etienne Abela, who presided over the signing ceremony, thanked the
three parties for the collaboration that led to this agreement.
They wished the staff of this department well.
