GWU signs new Collective Agreement for Crane Currency employees

An agreement that rewards employees’ dedication and efforts through improved salaries, working conditions and benefits

The General Workers’ Union (GWU), through its Technology, Electronics and Communications Section, has signed a new Collective Agreement for employees of Crane Currency Malta Ltd., which will bring substantial improvements in salaries, working conditions and various other benefits.

The agreement, which is retroactive to April 2025 and will remain in force until March 2029, is the result of months of negotiations between the GWU and the company’s management, aimed at reaching an agreement that recognises employees’ contributions and further enhances their employment conditions.

The Secretary of the GWU Technology, Electronics and Communications Section, Jason Gatt, expressed his satisfaction with the conclusion of the agreement, emphasising that the outcome achieved reflects the hard work, dedication and collaboration of all parties involved.

He particularly thanked the employees’ representative committee and the employees themselves for their trust, commitment and support throughout the negotiation process, stressing that this achievement would not have been possible without their contribution.

Gatt also expressed his hope that cooperation between the GWU and Crane Currency Malta Ltd. would continue to strengthen, creating further opportunities to improve working conditions and employee well-being in the future.

For his part, the Operations Director of Crane Currency Malta Ltd., Noel Galea, expressed his satisfaction with the signing of the agreement, describing it as an important step towards substantially improving employees’ employment conditions.

Galea acknowledged that the negotiation process had taken time but emphasised that constructive dialogue and a willingness to identify practical solutions had been crucial in reaching an agreement that reflects the interests of all parties.

He thanked the management representatives and employees who participated in the discussions, noting that despite the debates and differing views that may have arisen during the process, all parties ultimately succeeded in reaching an agreement.

“I believe this is a fair agreement that reflects the valuable work carried out by our employees and appropriately rewards their efforts,” Galea concluded.

The Collective Agreement was signed on behalf of the GWU by Section Secretary Jason Gatt, together with employee representatives Ruth Formosa, Jason Joseph Azzopardi, Malcolm Bezzina, Malcolm Dalli, Maurizio Camilleri, Jean Carl Mallia and Janet Attard.

On behalf of Crane Currency Malta Ltd., the agreement was signed by Operations Director Noel Galea, Company Director and Chief Financial Officer Kenneth Cortis, and Company Director and Director of HR International Operations Mariella Marinkovic.

The President of the GWU, Jason Deguara, was also present at the signing ceremony.
