Notice from the GWU to former shipyard workers

On behalf of former Shipyard Workers, who have fallen ill or died as a result of asbestos. The GWU Metal and Construction Division is accepting applications for compensation in order to negotiate this compensation out of court with the authorities concerned.

To file the claim, the affected workers must submit these documents:

  • Employment History (nearest branch of Jobsplus)
  • Asbestos disease certificate (from public hospital).
  • Sign a document authorizing the union to disclose the documents to third parties / authorities. If the person is deceased, the same documents must be brought by the next of kin and a complete death certificate must also be brought (not extracted).

Those who have already turned in these documents do not need to do so again.
