The General Workers’ Union (GWU), through its Disciplined Forces, Security Officers, and Law Enforcement Section, has achieved official recognition for security officers employed by Blue Border Holdings Limited.
This recognition was made possible after an absolute majority of the company’s security officers joined the GWU, prompting a verification process conducted by the Department of Industrial and Employment Relations (DIER). Following this verification, it was confirmed that 100% of the employed security officers are GWU members.
Commenting on this development, Section Secretary Theo Vella stated that the next step will involve initiating negotiations for a collective agreement in the coming weeks. These negotiations aim to improve working conditions for the security officers, including enhancements to their financial package.
This milestone represents a significant achievement for the union and its members, paving the way for better representation and improved conditions for security officers at Blue Border Holdings Limited.
