GWU and Parliamentary Secretary Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi discuss European funds

General Workers’ Union administration led by General Secretary Josef Bugeja and President Victor Carachi together with the Secretary of the GWU Section Government and Public Entities Kendrick Bondin yesterday met with Parliamentary Secretary for European Funds in the Prime Minister’s Office, Dr. Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi.

During the meeting, both sides discussed the public consultation documents announced in recent weeks on the use of European funds in Malta, both from the European Social Fund Plus and the European Social Fund. Cohesion Fund, the Just Transition Fund and the European Regional Development Fund.

Both sides commented on how European funds could be used to train young people and workers, on the need for training in new skills that the country needs as a result of the European Green Deal and Transition, Digital, and even about integration-related realities. They also talked about how European money could be used to support lifelong learning.

Another topic was the support with European funds that an organization like the General Workers Union could receive for training and capacity building among its members.
