New Collective Agreement signed between GWU Chemical & Energy Section and Teva Malta

A new Collective Agreement has been signed between the Chemical & Energy Section within the General Workers’ Union (GWU) and Teva Malta, following several months of negotiations and ongoing engagement with employees across the workplace.

Section Secretary Rita Dimech stated that the Agreement is the result of sustained dialogue, transparent communication, and a strong commitment to securing the best possible conditions for workers. She emphasised that throughout the process, the Section remained in close contact with its members to ensure that their priorities—particularly improved working conditions, fairer salary structures, and long-term job stability—were fully represented.

The Agreement introduces strengthened provisions that align with, and in several areas surpass, national standards. These include improved employee conditions, expanded opportunities for continuous upskilling, and measures that support sustainable and stable operational practices within the sector.

According to Dimech, these developments reflect the value and contribution of workers in the chemical and energy industry and reinforce the Section’s mission to safeguard their rights and wellbeing.

She thanked employees for their continued engagement throughout the negotiations and acknowledged the support of GWU representatives who helped ensure that workers’ needs and concerns were clearly reflected during the process. She added that the Agreement provides workers with greater stability and confidence moving forward, contributing to a stronger and more supportive working environment.

She also extended her appreciation to the management of Teva Malta, noting that the Agreement was made possible through constructive collaboration, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to strengthening workplace conditions.
