Despite the ugly and somewhat cold weather, this has not discouraged the people
who have come to Valletta to put presents under the Christmas tree in Pjazza
Castilja. The aim of this initiative is to give a Christmas present to every child in our
country.
This initiative is the brainchild of the Prime Minister’s wife, Dr Lydia Abela, and little
Giorgia Mae and is a sign of solidarity with less fortunate children. This was the
fourth year that the Gift with Love campaign was organised.
The success was evident from the many people who were busy distributing gifts
throughout the day. Among them were the highest officials of the General Workers’
Union, who also placed presents under the tree.
It was admirable that the security forces kept everything in order, considering that the
activities were scattered around Castilla Square.
