The General Workers’ Union, through the Government and Public Entities Section,
has received the most important recognition of employees working with Project
Green.
This recognition was granted following a review by DIER, which found that most
employees are paid members of the union.
This process was undertaken after the department was informed that most
employees recognise the benefits of membership in the country’s largest union.
The next step is to enter into negotiations with management on a new collective
labour agreement with the aim of improving conditions for these key workers.
