New Collective Agreement for Crane Authentication employees
The General Workers’ Union (GWU) has signed a new Collective Agreement for employees at Crane Authentication, covering the period 2026–2029. In addition to improved working conditions, the agreement provides for salary increases as well as other benefits, including a shift allowance.
The agreement was signed on behalf of the GWU by Technology, Electronics and Communications Section Secretary Jason Gatt. Union Shop Stewards and employee representatives Ruth Pulis, Stepan Bonnici, Creston Grech, and Glenn Busuttil also signed the agreement. On behalf of Crane Authentication, the agreement was signed by Anthero Agius, Director of Operations and Site Lead, and Elaine Mifsud Western, Senior Human Resources Manager.
Also present for the signing was GWU Secretary General Kevin Camilleri, who praised the manner in which the negotiations were conducted, noting that both parties shared a common objective: reaching this agreement. He described the process as “a demonstration of maturity.”
Camilleri stressed that the company is not only acknowledging its positive performance but also recognising that this success is largely attributable to its employees.
“Through the investment the company is making in this Collective Agreement, it is securing the future of these employees,” Camilleri stated.
The GWU Secretary General concluded by thanking the management, Section Secretary Jason Gatt, and the entire committee for their mature approach and continuous efforts that led to the successful conclusion of the agreement.
Speaking to this newspaper, Section Secretary Jason Gatt said that this was his first agreement as Section Secretary and that he was extremely pleased with the outcome. He also praised the committee for the commitment it demonstrated throughout the negotiations.
“We worked very well together. Together with management, we ensured that the agreement takes everyone into consideration, while also safeguarding the company’s long-term viability and future. The company has also recognised the importance of its technical employees,” Jason Gatt said.
For his part, Anthero Agius, speaking on behalf of the company, said that the agreement is designed to support continued operational improvements over the next three years, including the introduction of new roles, while also addressing future needs, particularly in technical positions.
“There is a wide range of benefits that will be implemented over the next three years, with the majority coming into effect during the first year. We believe these benefits allow us to support and give something back to everyone. They are not simply a way of saying thank you for all the work being carried out, but also a means of adapting to the future and preparing for the challenges ahead,” Agius stated.
