GWU suspends industrial actions at Dar Emmaus

Meeting between the GWU and Dar Emmaus management to take place next Monday

The General Workers’ Union (GWU) has suspended the industrial action that was underway at Dar Emmaus in Gozo, after the management of the Home agreed to meet with Union representatives to discuss the outstanding issues.

This development took place on Wednesday morning, when the Government, Public Entities and Health Section within the GWU was informed that the management of Dar Emmaus was prepared to meet with the Union. It was subsequently agreed that a meeting between the two sides would take place next Monday.

In light of this development, and as a gesture of goodwill, the GWU decided to suspend the industrial actions in force, allowing room for dialogue and constructive discussions between the parties.

The GWU hopes that the meeting will lead to concrete progress and a fair resolution of the outstanding issues, in the best interests of the workers concerned.

The issue between the GWU and Dar Emmaus arose in recent days in connection with a number of matters affecting workers, including issues related to trade union recognition.

The GWU remains committed to safeguarding the rights and interests of its members, while continuing to remain open to serious and constructive dialogue that can lead to a solution in the best interests of the workers.
