The GWU’s proposal to prioritise bank employees for vaccination against Covid-19

The Secretary of the Professionals, Finance and Services Section within the GWU has approached the Bankers Association to inform its members working in banks in Malta and Gozo about the possibility of being vaccinated against Covid-19 earlier.

These workers encounter people all the time. Their work puts them at risk, both to themselves and to their families who may even be at risk. Therefore, the GWU has proposed that they too be considered frontliners and should be vaccinated against Covid-19 as a priority.

The General Secretary of the Bankers Association agrees with GWU’s proposal and says that he needs to present this proposal to the Board to formally seek approval from Health Authorities.’

The GWU understands very well that everyone wants to be among the first to be vaccinated against Covid-19, but as the Workers Union it is our duty to see what is best for our members, as we have always done.
