GWU officially recognised as sole trade union representing IESC Ltd employees

An important step towards stronger representation and improved working conditions

The General Workers’ Union (GWU), through its Chemical and Energy Section, has officially been recognised by the Department of Industrial and Employment Relations (DIER) as the sole trade union representing employees of IESC Ltd.

This recognition marks an important milestone for the Union and, above all, for the employees who have placed their trust in the GWU to represent their interests, safeguard their rights and strengthen their collective voice in the workplace.

The Secretary of the GWU Chemical and Energy Section, Rita Dimech, welcomed this development and expressed her appreciation to all employees for their trust, confidence and support throughout the recognition process.

Dimech emphasised that every employee deserves fair treatment, decent working conditions and a strong voice in decisions affecting their working life.

She reaffirmed the Union’s commitment to protecting employees’ rights while working towards improvements in wages, employment benefits and overall working conditions.

Following this official recognition, the GWU looks forward to engaging in constructive discussions with IESC Ltd management to address employees’ concerns and explore opportunities for improving their conditions of employment.

Dimech also encouraged employees to take an active role in shaping their future by sharing their concerns, suggestions and proposals with the Union.

She stressed that unity among workers is essential to achieving meaningful progress, noting that a united workforce is better positioned to make its voice heard at the negotiating table.

The GWU reiterated that its role extends beyond collective negotiations, providing workers with representation, guidance and support whenever they face challenges or injustices at work.

The Union remains committed to working closely with IESC Ltd employees to promote a fair, respectful and secure working environment where every worker’s contribution is valued.
