GWU calls for urgent MCESD meeting to discuss the Covid-19 pandemic

In light of the latest developments that are taking place abroad, as well as the current situation in our country.

The General Workers’ Union yesterday wrote to Mr John Bencini, the MCESD Chairperson, appealing for an urgent meeting of the Malta Council for Economic and Social Development (MCESD), so that the social partners together with the Government, can discuss the Coronavirus in light of the latest developments that are taking place abroad, as well as the current situation in our country.

The GWU is appealing for this meeting to be held, in order to discuss the national pjan and strategy in the prevention of this virus in our country, the preparation for the medical services needed in case this virus hits our shores, the quarantine leave, as well as the economic impact that this virus will have on Maltese society, as well as their places of work.

The GWU is urgently calling for this meeting to be scheduled immediately.
