The GWU Government and Public Utilities Section was informed that the same workers were being called to do a swab test on their rest days. The GWU pointed out that the medical staff of St Vincent De Paul have the right to have the necessary rest every day, but especially during these times because the pandemic is a big challenge for everyone.
The GWU agrees that staff should swab regularly but this should be done during working hours or compensated for on rest days if necessary.
The St Vincent Management has contacted the GWU regarding this situation. With immediate effect, employees will be given an appointment to have swab tests during their working hours or be compensated for the inconvenience caused.
The section would like to thank all those involved in resolving this situation professionally and in such a short time.
