GWU and DHL Malta sign new Collective Agreement with improved conditions and benefits

The General Workers’ Union (GWU), through its Professionals, Finance and Services Section, has signed a new Collective Agreement with DHL Malta, benefiting more than 80 employees.

The agreement covers employees in the Customer Service, Couriers, Team Leaders/Operations, Fix Exception Desk and Imports Department grades, from Grade M to Grade O, and will remain in force for three years, from 1 August 2026 until 31 July 2029.

The new Collective Agreement introduces a number of significant improvements to employees’ terms and conditions of employment, including new social benefits, the introduction of study leave and emergency leave, as well as salary increases negotiated successfully with DHL’s parent company in Greece.

Riccarda Darmanin, Secretary of the GWU Professionals, Finance and Services Section, said that the agreement represents another important step towards strengthening employees’ working conditions and demonstrates the value of constructive social dialogue and collective bargaining.

She thanked the employees’ committee for its dedication and continuous commitment to safeguarding the interests of the workforce throughout the negotiations. She also expressed her appreciation to DHL Malta’s management for its collaboration, openness to dialogue and the professional and constructive approach adopted during the negotiations, which led to an agreement that benefits both employees and the company.

Darmanin added that the long-standing industrial relations between the GWU and DHL Malta, built on mutual respect and trust, have played a key role in continuously improving employees’ conditions over the years. She reaffirmed the Union’s commitment to continue protecting and strengthening the rights and interests of its members.

The agreement was signed by Riccarda Darmanin, Secretary of the GWU Professionals, Finance and Services Section; employees’ representative Charlo Galea; Dimitris Papas, Manager at DHL Malta; and Anthea Farrugia, Administration Assistant. Cynthia Schembri, Assistant Secretary of the GWU Professionals, Finance and Services Section, was also present for the signing.
