Improvement of working conditions and customer service
The first collective agreement was signed between Residenza Malta and the General Workers’ Union.
Residenza Malta is the agency that administers the application process for residence permits under Malta Permanent Residence Program Regulations.
The collective agreement is for a period of five years, from 2020 to 2024, and aims to improve the salary structure, benefits and conditions for employees.
This is intended to create a positive work environment and the agency will continue to support ongoing employee training.
The Minister of Home Affairs, National Security and Law Enforcement Byron Camilleri, who was present at the signing of the agreement, said that the employee is at the heart of this government’s work and the signing of this agreement shows how different the government’s attitude is today from that of other governments. He said that at a time when the world was facing a pandemic, Maltese workers had found a government that supported them.
In his message, the Parliamentary Secretary responsible for Citizenship and Communities Alex Muscat said that strengthening the workforce means strengthening the kind of service provided and encouraged Residenza Malta to continue its excellent work.
During the signing ceremony, the Chief Executive of Residenza Malta Charles Mizzi said that the staff is one of the most important values of the agency. “Employees are at the heart of every initiative we take. We strongly believe in the professional and personal investment of each employee, ” Mr. Mizzi continued.
Speaking on behalf of the General Workers’ Union, Kendrick Bondin said the union is always working to improve working conditions and the quality of life for employees. He described this agreement as an important step in the agency’s history.
