The GWU continues to meet the workers in its visits for the 80th anniversary

Discussions on innovation and sustainability in the maritime and aviation industry

The General Workers’ Union continued its visits to workplaces as part of the celebrations commemorating the 80th anniversary of its founding. On the second day the central administration visited the workers and administration of Freeport and SR Technics Malta.

The central administration of the GWU was accompanied by the Secretary in charge of the Section, Sandro Vella as the workers of the two companies are partners in the GWU.

In the first meeting in Freeport, the administration of Freeport expressed its gratitude to the GWU as it always found it a shoulder and co-operation when they were going through difficult moments. The CEO of Freeport Alex Montebello said that today Freeport is in a better position, while it is looking at more investments for advancement. He added that the maritime industry is undergoing major changes like the rest of the industries to have the best standards when it comes to environmentally friendly initiatives.

For his part, the General Secretary of the GWU Josef Bugeja said that he is happy to see this collaborative work with such large companies, industrial relations that teach you. The administration of the GWU reiterated its satisfaction regarding the innovative facilities in our country as well as for the abilities of the workers in Malta and offered its help to intervene where it is always possible to support the needs of the workers.

At the end of the meeting the administration of SR Technics presented a commemoration to the GWU of the union between the company and the GWU for the last 13 years.
