GWU announces Industrial Action at TEVA following failure to reach an agreement

The Chemical & Energy Section of the General Workers’ Union (GWU) announces that industrial action will commence today at Teva Pharmaceutical Industries (TEVA) following the company’s continued refusal to reach a fair Collective Agreement.

Despite numerous meetings, extensive correspondence, and discussions held in good faith — including conciliation efforts — no agreement has been reached. Throughout this process, the GWU presented reasonable proposals to safeguard workers’ conditions, wages, and rights. However, TEVA has remained unwilling to address the legitimate concerns raised on behalf of its employees.

The Union convened official meetings with its members, during which the majority clearly rejected the company’s position and mandated the GWU to proceed with industrial action.

Industrial action therefore commenced today. This decision was not taken lightly. It follows months of unsuccessful negotiations and repeated attempts by the Union to avoid escalation. Responsibility for this situation lies squarely with the company’s failure to engage constructively and reach a fair settlement.

The GWU reiterates its willingness to return to the negotiating table to reach a fair and balanced agreement in the interest of both the workers and the company.
