The General Workers’ Union (GWU) has formally declared an industrial dispute after
being informed that Healthmark Community Care Workers are not receiving the
allowance stipulated in Legal Notice 128 of 2024.
Despite repeated efforts by the GWU’s Government, Public Entities and Health
Section to resolve the issue amicably, the continued non-compliance has left the
union with no alternative but to escalate the matter.
The union has officially notified the Department of Industrial and Employment
Relations (DIER), requesting the initiation of mediation proceedings in accordance
with established procedures.
In a statement, the GWU expressed hope that the issue will be treated with urgency,
emphasizing the importance of respecting workers’ rights and adhering to legal
obligations.
