The GWU Pensioners’ Association pays a courtesy visit to the President of Malta Myriam Spiteri Debono

Myriam Spiteri Debono, President of Malta, received a courtesy visit from the General
Workers’ Union Pensioners’ Association in the presence of the General Secretary of the
General Workers’ Union Josef Bugeja.


Together they spoke about the ongoing work of older people in this union, including
campaigns, discussions and information sessions to be the voice of pensioners in our
country. During the meeting, a number of elders who have worked for the good of society in earlier times in this union and in our country were mentioned.

The officials of the pensioners’ union also explained to the president that the GWU was the first union to start paying female workers the same wages as male workers.

At the end of the meeting, the Union presented the President with a donation for The Malta Community Chest Fund.
