“Though I am concluding this chapter, my heart remains here where I discovered the true values of solidarity”

“The General Workers’ Union has been a significant part of my life. I joined at 17 and have always been actively involved. I began my journey as a shop steward and later became a delegate. Eventually, I had the opportunity to take a further step in my career and became the Secretary of the Technology, Electronics, and Communication Section,” said David Darmanin.

He expressed satisfaction with the work accomplished by the Section over the years. His goal was to listen to members and ensure that their realistic demands were met.

“As with every beginning, there is an end. Now is the time for me to rest. I would like to thank all the delegates, the GWU administration, and my fellow Secretaries. Although I am about to conclude this chapter, my heart will always remain in the place where I grew up—where I dedicated my strength to what I believe in and where I found the true values of solidarity.”

He concluded by stating that his experience within the GWU has been incredibly rewarding. Despite the stressful moments, he feels immense satisfaction in having led this Section for the past 11 years.
