The General Workers’ Union (GWU), through its Government and Public Entities
Section, has achieved a significant milestone by securing formal recognition for
employees in administrative positions within the State Attorney’s Office.
This recognition follows a thorough verification process conducted by the
Department of Industrial and Employment Relations (DIER), which confirmed that an
overwhelming majority of these employees are paid members of the GWU. The
process was initiated after it was reported that most workers acknowledged the
advantages of joining the largest union in the country.
With this recognition in place, the next step is to commence negotiations with the
management to establish a new Collective Agreement aimed at improving the
working conditions for these employees.
